THE APPRENTICES
The Game Changing Kingdom

Today's Message:
'counter culture kingdom'

These blessings strike us as very odd. On the one hand, they sound like good news—especially for those who are beaten, abandoned, down-and-out, hurt, weak, discouraged, and oppressed. On the other hand, the blessings completely invert the cultural norms of Jesus’ day and ours. We expect Him to declare the middle-class mantras of our time: “Blessed are the wealthy, for they have everything they need.” “Blessed are the healthy, for they will prevail in the struggle for survival.” “Blessed are the educated, for their knowledge gives them superior leverage.” “Blessed are the powerful, for they call the shots.” “Blessed are the famous, for they always have admirers.” But Jesus sees greater blessing in qualities we usually dismiss or avoid.

Humility is not an abject, defeated attitude. To the contrary, it recognizes the “divine image” in everyone and refuses to manipulate or exploit anyone. It springs from a profound sense of the Father’s sovereignty and a deep trust in His provision and love. It sees life as bigger and more than “me” and dedicates itself to “us.” It eschews the trivial honors that commonly divide us but respects all people for their greatest honor of all—being created in the image of God. And to the extent that we nurture this “poor in spirit” attitude we discover the secret of contentment and productivity.

Children and Students

NURSERY

The nursery ministry serves children 6 weeks to 2 years old. It is available during all Sunday morning worship services. It is located just outside the sanctuary near the main entrance. We provide a cry room for families to utilize during our services as well.
  • Infant Nursery: (6 weeks – 1 year)
The infant nursery is fully staffed, with rooms to play and sleep. Equipped with cribs, swings, rocking chairs and toys that insure the safety of your infant.  The child will be promoted to the toddler nursery on their 1st birthday or when he/she becomes a steady walker.  The decision to promote is ultimately up to the discretion of the parent.
  • Toddler Nursery: (1 – 2 years)
The toddler nursery is also fully staffed with two playrooms and a snack/story time room. The rooms are equipped with fine and gross-motor activities and an organized snack and story time is provided during the 9:45 service on Sunday mornings.

PRESCHOOL

The preschool ministry serves children ages 2 – 5 years old. Currently, classes are available for all ages during the 9:45 and 11:00 Sunday morning services.
  • 2 Year Old Class:
This class is available for all 2 year olds during the 9:45 and 11:00 services. They will experience a Bible lesson; play time, snack, music and activities. This class meets in the lower level in room 103.
  • 3 Year Old Class:
This class is available during the 9:45 service. The children focus on age appropriate lessons to connect kids to Jesus using Bible memory, songs, and time for interaction with one another. The three-yr. old class promotes each child on their 4th birthday.  This class meets in the lower level in room 101.
  • 4/5 Year Olds Class:
This class is available during the 9:45 service. The children will also be presented with a Bible lesson, activity, and circle time with the theme/Scripture for the day. They are presented with the same lesson as learned in the 3 Year Old and Wee Worship classes and they are also given a new memory verse for each new curriculum unit.  The children will remain in this class until they are promoted into Kindergarten.  This class meets in the lower level in room 102.
  • Wee Worship:
Wee Worship is available during the 11:00 service and serves children ages 3 – 5 years old. This service was created to give this age group an introductory experience of corporate worship while still providing them with lessons at their developmental level. The children are presented with different Biblical material through object lessons, music, activities, and short video clips. This age group learns best through social interaction, so they will be provided with structured time available through the use of stations. Wee Worship is provided to help make your preschoolers’ church experience both fun and educational.  The lesson they are presented is the same lesson that is taught during the 9:45 service, but uses different methods and activities to reinforce the theme/Scripture.  The children stay in this class until they are promoted into Kindergarten.  This class meets in the lower level in room 102.
