THE APPRENTICES
The Game Changing Kingdom

Today's Message:
'counter culture kingdom'

These blessings strike us as very odd. On the one hand, they sound like good news—especially for those who are beaten, abandoned, down-and-out, hurt, weak, discouraged, and oppressed. On the other hand, the blessings completely invert the cultural norms of Jesus’ day and ours. We expect Him to declare the middle-class mantras of our time: “Blessed are the wealthy, for they have everything they need.” “Blessed are the healthy, for they will prevail in the struggle for survival.” “Blessed are the educated, for their knowledge gives them superior leverage.” “Blessed are the powerful, for they call the shots.” “Blessed are the famous, for they always have admirers.” But Jesus sees greater blessing in qualities we usually dismiss or avoid.

Humility is not an abject, defeated attitude. To the contrary, it recognizes the “divine image” in everyone and refuses to manipulate or exploit anyone. It springs from a profound sense of the Father’s sovereignty and a deep trust in His provision and love. It sees life as bigger and more than “me” and dedicates itself to “us.” It eschews the trivial honors that commonly divide us but respects all people for their greatest honor of all—being created in the image of God. And to the extent that we nurture this “poor in spirit” attitude we discover the secret of contentment and productivity.

About Us

What to Expect

Forum Christian Church is a nondenominational Christian Church. Week to week teaching comes from the Bible. As a church, Forum centers on Jesus and encourages people to anchor their lives to him, his word, and his teachings. As a church, Forum strives to follow the Bible both in word and in deed.

The environment at Forum is a "come as you are" style. Dress as you are comfortable — at Forum people feel comfortable to dress as they choose.

Forum has excellent ministries for your children of all ages. One of the values as a ministry is our youth department. When a church impacts the lives of children, entire communities are raised to new levels. Forum is here to impact Columbia.

You will also be exposed to excellent, relevant, and life-changing teaching. Forum values people and we know that relevant truth changes people for the better.

Communion: We practice weekly, open communion, which means that all believers are invited to enter into the story of Jesus through the bread and the cup. Communion will be served by row for you to partake of and then to pass to your neighbor.

Offering: If you are a guest at Forum, don’t feel obligated to give, but if you would like to participate, you can place your gift in the offering plate when it is passed or give online. Your gift helps us to function as a church as well as to support other ministries outside of Forum.

Connecting Place: If you would like to make a faith decision, talk or pray with us, we invite you to come to the Connecting Place at the conclusion of each service.

If you have any questions, we would be glad to help you in any way that we can.  Feel free to call the church office at your convenience  at 573.443.3900 or e-mail us.  We would love to hear from you.
