Tired…and sick/Energized…and excited

“How can that headline possibly even go together? Are you an oxymoron?” you might ask.

Let me help everyone reading this take a step back and think:

Would you agree that horrific things continue to occur in our world today?

  • A plane is shot down and the pilot’s body is suspended on a pole to make a totem out of his lifeless body. (7/14/16)
  • Another rampage occurs on France’s day of freedom. While there is no certainty as of this writing who is responsible or what their motives, it was a calculated action of terror. (7/14/16)
  • All this on the heels of the events that happened in Dallas last week.

I’m tired of it.

Additionally, I’m sickened by it.

Frankly, I’m mad to the core.

Life is a gift. All of this disregard for life is so far beneath the image of God we are created in.

People’s lives matter to God. And more importantly, our souls matter to God.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son - that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).

Friends - that truth doesn’t just apply to 7/14/16 or the 15th, or 16th, or 17th, etc…It is true every day.

And people are responding to the gospel every day. They are drinking of the living water that we will talk about this Sunday and they are being saved.

I’ve been in CA at the North American Christian Convention this week but will be home this weekend but I saw this in my Facebook newsfeed posted by Tyler Hensley:

Kingdom Workers are: Loved, Rescued, United, and Changed!! We had 15 students make decisions tonight to either: get baptized, rededicate their lives to Christ, be Christian leaders in their schools, or go into full time ministry!! We cannot wait to tell you all about how God is moving in our students' lives!

This convention also hosted a CIY Move at the same time and seeing all those students praising and worshiping God was just stellar. Kind of a taste of heaven on this earth. And that’s how it should be. We are to bring God’s kingdom agenda to this earth. The phrase “on earth as it is in heaven” is God’s kingdom agenda unfolding and unleashing on this earth.

We help the earth to live by giving to it living water. Spiritual water from the Lord that changes lives, changes families, and changes the earth.

So I’m energized…and excited.

Energized because the living water that I drank from continues to renew my heart, mind, soul, and strength. My hope is ever in the Lord - he renews my strength. He mounts me up on eagle’s wings. He hydrates me in a dry and thirsty land.

Excited because God is moving in a powerful way at Forum and all through the world. Let me encourage you to invite friends this weekend. They need the living water of Jesus. That’s what we’re drinking this Sunday.
