Most of us have a conversation we keep not having. We tell ourselves it's timing, or personality, or that we don't know enough yet, and we get very good at predicting exactly how it would go. Two thousand years ago a handful of ordinary people were arrested, threatened, and beaten for something they kept saying out loud, and they walked out of the courtroom celebrating. What did they have that made the verdict of the most powerful people in the city stop mattering?
